Cheltenham TherapySpace to understand. Space to be.

We’ll talk about what’s brought you to counselling, what you’d like help with and what you’re hoping to get from the process.

You don’t have to commit to long-term counselling after our first meeting.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the person you’re sitting with.

Questions

Things people often ask

Do I need to know what I want to talk about?

No. Many people come with a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if they can’t explain what it is. We can start wherever you are and make sense of it together.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between us, within the limits that apply to all counsellors, such as a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. I’ll explain these clearly in our first session. Like all BACP members, I have regular clinical supervision, where work is discussed without identifying you.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies from person to person. Sessions are normally weekly, and we’ll keep reviewing together how things are going. You don’t have to commit to long-term counselling after our first meeting.

How do online sessions work?

In much the same way as meeting in person, just by video. All you need is somewhere private where you won’t be interrupted, and a reliable internet connection.

How much does it cost?

Individual sessions are £60–£75 for a 50-minute session. If cost is a concern, please get in touch to talk it through.

What if I need help urgently?

Counselling isn’t an emergency service. If you’re struggling to stay safe, call 999 or go to A&E, call NHS 111 and choose option 2, or call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time.

Ready when you are.
